Adrienne M. Finnerty
Visual Artist, Holistic Therapist
Brilliant colours & inviting textures characterize Adrienne M. Finnerty‘s distinctive artwork. Her paintings are bright, vibrant & exciting, many inspired by travels through Africa, Asia, Brazil & most recently India. A colourist, her magical hues reflect her inner experience, her response to life & so her work is always fresh, original, & dynamic.
Adrienne initially studied Textile Design. Her interest in Complimentary Medicine then led her through many areas of study including a Dip. in Holistic Massage, Adv.Dip. Clinical Hypnotherapy/Psychotherapy & Dip. in Movement, Sound & Colour Therapy. Recently following many years of practising Reiki, Adrienne received her Reiki Masters.
Adrienne combines her time as Director of Holistic Solutions with creating her original, distinctive Artwork.
Inspirations
Adrienne is inspired to paint by all sorts of things, big events, small happenings, people, places, life issues in general. Her art is energized with conceptual direction, emotionally inspired and attuned to her moods and responses to life. It is her private experience set out in paint and canvas, so is always new and innovative. Her love of travel takes her trekking to remote regions of the world, inspiring original unique paintings, including her African, Vietnam & Brazilian series of works.
Adrienne is eclectic in her painting methodology & depending on her mood & the result she is aiming to achieve, swings between the traditional upright easel and brush, to the more impulsive technique of floor work where often through splashes and spills she attempts to create order from chaos. Colours mingle, accidents happen, her creativity unfolds. Her method is often an unconcious process, where Adrienne takes a meditative approach to paint her feelings, thoughts & responses to life experience.
One such recent experience, was a meeting with the wonderfully colourful Maasai people outside Nairobi & in the Maasai Mara, who re-named Adrienne "Nalutu Esha"....One who brings Rain....many blessings seemingly.....A deeply moving experience......for contemplation...reflection....& many artworks......in time......
Music adds another dimension to her creative process... helping to set the tone..... the atmosphere...to allow the paintings.....happen. All genres of music are played, at different times, for different artworks, depending on the mood desired. New World music, Rhythm & Blues, Rock, Pop, whatever feels right in the moment. Adrienne tunes into her unconscious & allows her inspirations reveal themselves & thus continues her own unique process of creating, of painting.The rhythm of the music helps her to lose herself in the work and so achieve a harmonious balance of colour and form.
Recent travels have led Adrienne to spend many weeks with her camera in Kenya & Tanzania, East Africa. This busy exciting journey was followed by a tour of 5 Indian cities, New Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Jodhpur & Uaidapur. So much culture, so much colour & wonderment.......so many magic moments, so many wonderful faces captured....so much inspiration for further exploration on paper & canvas............watch this space......
